City clerks, Mayors and technical officers in the new cities have been encouraged to be strategic towards physical planning to avoid creation of slums.
The call is made by Ag. Director housing at the ministry of lands , housing and urban development, Khayangayanga Dave at the launch of 2021 Home and construction expo scheduled between 22nd - 26th November organized at Danube home in Kampala.
According to him, the housing sector is facing a number challenges among which is: includes, the 2.2m deficit which he says needs to be addressed by multi-sectoral approach.
He added that housing circles/cooperatives should be formed to pool resources together to build reasonable houses in communities.
