The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has called on investors to take interest in the country's sports sector that is still undeveloped.
While meeting with the UAE ambassador Abdalla Alshamsi,Among said that Uganda has a great potential in the sporting discipline, that remains untapped because of lack of infrastructure to provide world-class training and support to talented sportspersons.
She said Uganda has many talented young men and women who can represent the country on the international scene, but because of lack of infrastructure such as stadiums, Netball, Volleyball courts and runways, they cannot compete favorably with the rest of the world.
The meeting, which was attended by Bugiri Municipality MP Asuman Basalirwa and Rwampara County MP Amos Kakunda, among others, discussed ways of stimulating business cooperation between the two countries, aimed at increasing trade and encourage joint investments.
Among said that once the infrastructure is in place, Uganda will be position to host the Afcon 2027.
The ambassador to UAE Abdalla Alshamsi reiterated that Uganda indeed offers the best investment climate in Africa, and pledged support to the development of the sector.
On May 8th this year Uganda emerged the best investment destination in East Africa during a global investor awarding ceremony in Abu Dhabi.
