The Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) Annual General Meeting held  on Saturday 27th, unanimously confirmed Mr. Trubish Bob for a new four-year mandate. The experienced banker  sailed through unopposed.

He  re-elected as the sixth chairman of the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) until 2028.

Bob Trubish was first elected in 2017 to replace Farouk Wamala Kisuze. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Trubish applauded all delegates for their trust in him and support.

“It is a great honor but mainly it is a great responsibility towards the sport of pool. The members are giving me their full support to serve them and to take the game forward. I want to pay back that loyalty by doing the best I can with the executive team to grow the game and to make certain transformations in the game beyond where we are now,” He said.

A professional accountant, the 40-year-old Senior HR Manager at Centenary Bank, has proved a smooth political operator, cultivating key relationships and building the confidence of Nile Special, who returned as sponsors of the National Open last year after a five-year hiatus.

Mr. Trubish echoed that his immediate plans will focus on infrastructure development, sustainability, human resource development, building the PAU brand and transitioning into a federation.

“If I can work on those issues, the game will not remain the same. I am here for sport and we will put pool first,” he added.

Mr. Trubish’s next term could be his last in accordance with the constitutional mandate which stipulates a consecutive two-term limit. Since his first term was interrupted in 2019, the case against his ineligibility filed by the Board of trustees seeking to cancel the elections, was dismissed by a legal opinion instituted by AF Mpanga Advocates and an advisory by the National Council of Sports (NCS).

In the same meeting the association  also maintained 200,000 Uganda shillings subscription fee for any member.

The subscription runs from January to June for a substantive member and then it runs from July to December for what they call provisional members who don’t have voting rights.

He added that this year  they expect the National open with Nile breweries. ‘’We are currently in negotiations with Nile breweries for the new contract which will be announce at the right time once it is signed. In addition to that we expect to have a league which did not happen last year, so we expect it this year running as per normal schedule and then we expect to have other events in the calendar’’, he said.

He noted  that they are working on constitution review and this will see the association converted in the federation.

He also talked of the slow rate at which women are embracing the game. "The ladies game is growing but it can do better and that’s the one of things that we want to focus on in the new term of office", he added.

Trubish will address the media later this week to unveil his plans for the sport.
