As preparations are under way to cerebrate Uganda’s 60 years of independence the opposition in Parliament has condemned the continued kidnap and abductions of Ugandans without trial.

Speaking to journalists at parliament the shadow minister for internal affairs Abdallah Kiwanuka said that despite government commitment to account for missing people within one month the abductions and kidnaps have continued.

`` I cannot keep quiet when people are being abducted and killed ,its abduction because they don't notify any one.'' Kiwanuka said

He said they have done all what it takes including going to court and court directed government to release some of them immediately  but they have deliberately refused to obey the orders.

Kiwanauka says they are people who were in prison with the missing persons who can testify that they saw Ssempijja Yuda  and Kanata Mohamed in the same detention.

He says that they will not submit the contacts of the relatives of the abductees as requested by government in last week's meeting between government and Opposition leadership due to the fear that they will threaten the families of the victims.

Kiwanuka who is also Mukono North MP say so far they have compiled a list of 12 people and the list will be submitted this Friday to the office of the speaker

Last week in a meeting chaired by deputy speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja requested for the particulars of the abductees including Names, places of kidnap and phone contacts to ease the tracing of the victims.

The shadow minister for Defense and security affairs Derrick Nyeko also threatened that they will make parliament unruly after recess if the government fails to produce the National unity platform supporters who were abducted.

Nyeko say that they are fed up with government promises of stopping kidnaps yet they continue to happen with others being killed.

Nyeko who is also the Makindye East MP also demanded for an action from government on the commandant who issues orders to abduct and Kill the supporters of NUP.

He tasked government to either produce the abductees alive or declare them dead and give the bodies of the victims to their families for decent burial.

Meanwhile the opposition demands that parliament constitutes a select committee to investigate the abductions and enforced disappearance of Ugandans because they don’t trust the human rights committee of parliament chaired by ruling NRM members.
