Uganda is a Peaceful Country; Mufti Mubaje

A delegation from the Geneva based Global Organisation Alliance For Inclusive Muslims-AIM have visited the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.

These led by its founder Ms.Ani Osman Zonneveld were hosted by the Mufti of Uganda His  Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, at Old Kampala, in which Ms.Osman explained that their visit was to acquaint the Mufti about the mission of their Organisation to challenge theological justification for hate & Supremacism against the progressive values that are inherent to Islam; namely human rights & dignity for all,  freedom of expression and religion.

"We initiated a program entitled " Imams For She- that aims to empower Imams with relevant knowledge in order to promote and protect Muslim Women rights basing on the Islamic Context. We are so far operating smoothly in four African Countries- Tanzania, Burundi, DRC Congo, and Kenya,” she said.

She further  informed the Mufti that the plans of her Organization in the near future comprise the establishment of the African Continent Head Office in Uganda and to  Scale up their activities in other African Countries.

They have also organised a Global Conference scheduled for March 22nd, 2022 themed " Women & Economic Empowerment", and requested the Mufti to use his position as the Interim Chairperson  of the African Forum For Muslim Councils- AFMC to mobilise Muftis and Kadhis to attend the said conference.

Speaking at the said visit, Sheikh Mubajje implored the organisation for  rendering a helping hand in fulfilling their  responsibilities as religious leaders."

He further welcomed the proposal of opening the Organisation's African Office in Uganda describing the county as peaceful, conducive and hospitable, their initiative that seeks to alleviate poverty among women and youth and asked the officials to consider and design Programs that help Boy Children to enable them grew up as responsible citizens.

The Mufti also called for closer cooperation with UMSC departments of Education, Social Services and Women and Youth affairs.

The other members of the delegation included Sheikh Khalifan Bukuru, the national imam of Burundi and the Global Director Imams for She Program and Ms Mastullah Ashah Mwanga, the Director Family Law.
