The High Court in Masaka has declined to  grant bail to Opposition MPs Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana.

Justice Lawrence Tweyanze ruled that the two legislators are likely to interfere with the ongoing investigations into their cases, after agreeing with prosecution.

Justice Tweyanze  dismissed the legislators claims of not getting sufficient medical attention in Kigo government prison, but rather, directed the Authorities at the prison to see to it  that the MPs get the required medical attention.

The two MPs appeared before the Judge via Zoom and  were further  remanded as investigations into their case continues.

The  embattled legislators representing Kawempe North MP and Makindye West constituents wanted court to grant them bail on grounds that they are sick and had failed to access adequate medical attention at Kigo Government prison.

According to  lead council Erias  Lukwago, their clients were in dire need of immediate specialized  medical attention stating that MP Ssegirinya's foot was rotting away and whatever he was suffering from  could even  affect  his other vital body organs if not treated.

He  prayed for the Court to grant his clients bail  maintaining that the court can hold the MPs in a private facility while they get the needed medical attention, if they fear that the MPs might abscond but his pleas fell on deaf ears..

The MPs are charged with murder and terrorism charges in which Prosecution  alleges that on the 4th day of August 2021,the MPs   killed a one Bwanika Joseph of Kisekka B Village, Kankamba Parish, Lwengo District.
