Shadow minister for health also Jinja west Mp Dr Timothy Batuwa Lusala has called all stakeholders to device all possible ways to fight corruption, because it has grossly affected the health sector.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament  Batuwa said that the effect is gross to the extent that patients are largely taking care of themselves and all what Government  provides  is the presence of medical staff and the beds which are not even sufficient in a number of health facilities.

Batuwa notes that in many Government facilities patients are either sleeping on the floor or sharing beds which is even  medically un acceptable because it leads to cross infections.

"You’re supposed to control cross infections as a medic but it’s inevitable. 'Batuwa said

"Issues of patients being asked  to pay  money before getting any treatment and bribes at the gate to access the hospital premises are very common"he said.

The Mp say that  Parliament passes money to ran  the health facilities but because of corruption ambulances are not fueled , patients are left in darkness yet many Ugandans who fall sick  do not have money but need referral care.

He said that because some individuals within the health care system  eat money for drugs and protective gears in the hospitals, it’s the reason why the country loses doctors during the epidemics.

Butawa now say that something must be done to fight corruption especially in the health care system saying that when corruption affects the health care system the country is put to its knees.

His remarks comes as the world commemorated the international anti-corruption day on 9th December.
