Fire Kills Two Children in Katanga

Police in Kampala are  currently investigating two separate incidents of fire which claimed the lives of three people including two minors .

According to police, one of the fire incidents happened in Kamwanyi Cell, Katanga in Kampala and it claimed the lives of two minors.

Luke Oweyisigyire the deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson revealed that the fire incident happened at the home of Kibuuka Mohammad who left his children with their 12-year-old elder sister and went to Kyankwanzi District for grasshopper harvesting.

Owoyesigyire noted that the fire incident that happened on Sunday evening at around 7pm occurred after the elder sister , 12 year old Shamirah Nakigudde left them alone at home.

Two of them Shakur Ssentongo aged 7 years and Badru Tamale 4 years were pronounced dead on arrival at Kirudu hospital.

Another child e Juma Kigongo Mugerwa survived.

Police  have now embarked on hunting for Kibuuka Mohammad, the father of the children.

Meanwhile, Police have also confirmed the death of a 36 year old lady identified as Mariam Nannyonga a resident of Mbagala Cell, in Goma Sub-county, Mukono district.

Owoyesigyire says the cause of  Nanyonga's death was due to electric short circuit that sparked off the fire that gutted her single roomed  house and suffocated until her last breath.
