After a tense 120 minutes of football in the AFCON Finals, the match between Senegal and Egypt was eventually decided on penalties.

Senegal were the victors of the penalty shoot-out with a score of 4-2, with Sadio Mane firing home the winning penalty. His teammate at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah, was presumably set to take Egypt’s fifth penalty-kick but didn’t have the opportunity after the match, Egypt goalkeeper Gabaski’s water bottle was found near the goal where the penalties were taken.

Gabaski looked at the water bottle before every spot kick in the shootout and went the right way in all stopping one of the five penalties he faced, but it was not enough for victory in Cameroon.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper did not just use that water bottle during the final, as star forward Mohamed Salah helped Gabaski deceive Mane after Senegal were awarded a penalty early in the first-half. He stopped the penalty, hence keeping the scores level.

That scoreline remained the same for the entire 120 minutes of action, with Gabaski then using his water bottle information to try and guess where Senegal players put their penalties.

The water bottle was covered in small pieces of paper with an incredible amount of detail about each Senegal player’s penalty technique. Well he guessed the directions of the spot kicks of; Kalidou Koulibaly - and even got a hand to it but he couldn’t keep it out, Abdou Diallo's effort but was unable to get to it.

Unfortunately, Gabaski was then sent the wrong way by Senegal's Bamba Dieng and right after then, Egypt's Mohanad Lasheen missed his next spot kick, leaving Sadio Mane Mane to win his country the trophy with the next penalty.

Mane and Gabaski went in the same direction as jus like the spot kick in normal time, but the Senegalese forward put his effort right in the corner to ignite wild Senegalese celebrations.
